Swordman

Overview / Role​

The Swordman is a frontline melee fighter specializing in physical damage and durability. With high HP, strong VIT growth, and access to powerful weapons, Swordman is one of the most beginner-friendly classes in Ragnarok Online.

Requirements​

  • Base Level: None
  • Job Level: 10 as Novice
  • Prerequisite: Complete the Swordman job change quest in Izlude.

Advancement Path​

At Job Level 40-50, the Swordman can advance to:

  • Knight - Mounted DPS with two-handed sword and spear mastery.
  • Crusader - Holy tank with shield-based defense and party support.

Job Level Cap: 50

Key Skills​

  • Bash: Single-target physical attack scaling with skill level.
  • Magnum Break: AoE Fire-element splash attack.
  • Provoke: Reduces enemy DEF and increases their ATK; great for tanking.
  • Endure: Resist flinching from hits for a brief period.
  • Two-Handed Sword Mastery / Sword Mastery: Increases damage with the corresponding weapon.

Train at Payon Cave or the Mjolnir Mountains using Bash. Pump STR for damage and VIT for survivability. A Swordman is the ideal first character for new players because of its straightforward gameplay and forgiving stat curve.
